FAQ

How many treatments will I need?

There is no pre-determined number of treatments for a specific condition. However following your initial assessment, your Physiotherapist will discuss and agree a treatment plan with you. This should include advice regarding the approximate number of treatments you may require.

How quickly will I be seen for my first appointment?

We are normally able to offer you an appointment with a Physiotherapist in the clinic within 24 hours –often the same day. We endeavour to keep you with the Physiotherapist you have seen in the past subject to their availability. If you change Physiotherapist don’t worry we all have access to previous records via networked computer records and communicate one to one where necessary.

Will you communicate with my doctor?

We communicate regularly with your GP or Consultant. At discharge, we write to them in detail about your treatment and provide progress reports during longer rehabilitation programmes. (This is subject to your prior approval)

We pride ourselves on out professionalism and if Physiotherapy is not the right approach for your condition we will refer you back to your GP or Consultant for their valued opinion.

Is the cost of physiotherapy covered by medical insurance?

Normally yes, although this depends on the patient’s individual policy and we would ask all patients to check with their insurer. We are a BUPA and PPP registered practice and we are registered with all the major health insurance companies.

Is physiotherapy treatment appropriate for back and neck problems?

All the Physiotherapists have special interests in spinal conditions so are very capable at treating back and neck problems.

Can physiotherapists manipulate?

Yes, chartered Physiotherapists with the appropriate post-graduate training are qualified to manipulate.

How long does a treatment session last?

Initial consultations are normally 45 minutes and follow ups are 30 minutes.

Should I bring my X-rays with me?

Yes – if you have X-rays or any other relevant medical information please bring them along as this may aid assessment although they are not essential.
